Almost more than 60% of Brits are making at least one mistake which causes drastic rise in their bills.

Something as simple as adjusting your thermostat from 21c to 22c could save about £75 a year.

The myths that are believed to decrease your bills are actually the mistakes that you are making. It is time to break these myths.

Myth Number 1: Turn the thermostat UP when it’s cold outside

You won’t be believing this but actually 52% of the British do this. People don’t know that a thermostat is designed to maintain the inside temperature of your house, so turning it up won’t help as after a while you will begin to feel too hot and would have lost plenty of cash and energy in this process.

Myth #2: Turn Up the Thermostat to Heat up more quickly

This trick is one of the oldest from the book, about 35% of Brits think this old trick works, coming back home from work in a chilly house is not comfortable at all, 90% of people are tempted to turn the thermostat up for an instant temperature change - but unfortunately doing this won’t make your homes comfortable. A thermostat does not control how speedy the temperature should meet its mark in fact it controls the final temperature.

Myth #3: Leave the Heating on Low Constantly Will be more efficient than Turning It On and Off

An astonishing 38% of Brits think that this is true, in fact there is simply no use of keeping the heating on at low when there aren’t any people in the house, opt for thermostat programmers to control the timing of your heating and zone heat your rooms accordingly. This will eventually help you save more as your heating will give heat accordingly.

Myth #4: Keep Your Hot Water on All Day to Make Sure Your Hot Water Doesn’t Run Out

31% of people usually go for this one thinking that if they don’t do so they might run out of hot water. This actually increases the bills instead of lowering them as the boiler will be burning the whole day to provide you hot water, instead simply set it an hour before you need hot water, an hour before your morning routine or simply set it an hour before doing your house chores or arriving back from work.

Now that the myths have been busted, you can now save money!
